Uberspace

I've spent my free time since the last post working on updating my old Uberspace website. The information, screenshots, and videos up there are taken from the old OpenGL and C++ engine. If there's enough interest, I'll put up a server and see if I can get some games going, but a strictly mutliplayer game is not so much fun without people to play with.

So you know what I'm talking about - check this out: If you want more go here.

Upcoming posts here will largely be about porting Uberspace to XNA. I'm sure I'll sneak in some other goodies from time to time, but Uberspace for XNA will take the bulk of my attention over the coming weeks/months (years?).

Why I'm here

Before I begin, I want to be clear about this blog's focus. This is not a blog on XENA. This is a blog on XNA, Microsoft's (fairly) new managed game development framework, and game development. You will not find any warrior princesses here.

Now, to the point.

There was a time when I worked and played in the game industry, dreaming to one day become a game titan. They were the days of bachelor-dom, where sleep was a waste of time, pay was a luxury, and sustenance meant slurping down a ramen. I have since married a wonderful woman and directed my attentions to other, more profitable endeavors. I pushed my dreams further back into dream land.

Now, by day I lead a small team of .NET programmers working in the financial industry. By night, my sleep is haunted by the ghosts of games not yet created.

Those dreams have begun to hound me like a neglected puppy, begging for attention and nourishment. This blog is here for two reasons. First, it's an outlet to organize my thoughts as I attempt to make my dreams something more tangable. Second, this blog is here to document my discoveries, achievements, and mistakes as I make them (hopefully there will be more of the former) so others can grow with me.
